The Sublime Qur'an by Laleh Bakhtiar

Peace Be Unto Those Who Follow Right Guidance.

Check out by Laleh Bakhtiar's The Sublime Qur'an (2006), the first English translation by an American woman. Bakhtiar has caused some controvery in the Muslim community with her rendering of the verbal root daraba in (4:34) as "to go away". However, it is interesting to note that Abdul Hamid A. Abusulayman, author of Marital Discord: Recapturing the Full Islamic Spirit of Human Dignity (London: IIIT, 2003), interprets daraba similarly as "to separate", "to move away", "to depart.
